Micah and Izzy’s actual birthday is Thursday, the 13th, but we celebrated on the 10th. We have quite a lot on our plates this week so it was a small party, but the girls had a blast! Don’t you just love the ‘easy to please’ spirit of children? Just one more way they teach us more about our Lord Here are some pics from the evening…
These are the Herbet’s. I lived with them before we got married and they are very special to our family.
Izzy is on the left and her big sis (relatively speaking), Micah on the right. Aren’t they precious!!! Love, love, love my sweet baby girls!
The Shield’s family. My girl’s foster family who took such great care of them and paved the way for our family to become what it is today.
Our little family of Hovater’s. Daddy, Iz the biz, Micah Mic and Momma. We are so blessed!
If you know me then you know that I LOVE my Chacos! Really, they are my most favorite shoe ever. Before being a Momma, I dreamed of our kids all having a pair of these beauties. Now that I am a parent, I realize how silly that was. Who wants to buy their kids expensive sandals that they are only going to wear for about 3 months?!?! Not me that’s for sure! But Aunt Martha, sweet Aunt Martha made it happen and now I can live that dream. A family full of chaco wearers Side note: When Martha called to ask me what size to get, it literally brought tears to my eyes. That’s a good Aunt Martha but an even better sister-in-law, since we all know this is a present for me
On the way from Little Rock to Tullahoma this weekend, the girls experimented with various ways to sleep in the car seats. That’s Micah using one pac-pac as a holder for her other pac-pac, and Izzy using the shoulder-riding monkey as a pillow.
Conversation with Iz the Biz…
Setting the scene: Izzy is on top of the kitchen table (don’t judge) reading books. She starts to throw them off one by one.
Momma: Izzy, you need to get down and pick up all those books you just threw.
Izzy: You do it, Momma.
Momma: No Babe, I can’t. You threw them, so you are going to pick them up.
Izzy: No, I can’t Momma, I touchin’ my foot.
hmmmmm.
While Steven had the kids Saturday morning, he decided to work on the skill of jumping from heights. He says they’ll keep building up, and eventually they’ll be able to avoid using ladders and stairs altogether. That’ll come in handy. So he says.
Izzy, Kelly, and Micah on the Trail at Pinnacle Mountain
On Thursday afternoon, Steven and I took the sweets to Pinnacle Mtn. The weather has been AWESOME here so we are trying to get in a ton of outside time before the humidity and, most dreadedly, the mosquitos come. All three of the Hovater girls love to be outside but attract those pesky little blood suckers from miles. I am convinced that we when walk outside there are mosquitos in Memphis that perk up, immediately change course and head west to find that sweet blood of ours! Annoying to say the least.
The goal was for me to run while Steven played with the girls on the playground. Well things don’t always happen as we plan them but this, in hindsight, was a MUCH better plan. We decided to climb part of the mountain and it was fantastic! If you have ever been around the younger Hovater girls you know that they are CLIMBERS so they were up for the challenge. Made Momma a little nervous. Anyway this is a picture that Steven took where all 3 of us are smiling! Let me just note that this, my friends, is amazing. We had such a wonderful time just the 4 of us. I, as of late, have been filling a little sentimental as my babes are reaching their 3rd birthday, so this was an awesome “see Kelly big girls can be just as much fun as little girls” reminder outing for me. I am so thankful for them and this evening of enjoying God’s greatest gifts to our family. We are sooo very blessed!
